KOHAN
Kohan is, at least initially, inspired by Persian
mythology (Kohan means "ancient" in Persian). You, as the player, have suddenly been transported to the world of Khaldun and
made aware of your true identity. You are a Kohan, one of 100,000 perfect and immortal individuals created by Ormazd. Ormazd
had been opposed by Ahriman (more Persian references). Ahriman sparked a great Cataclysm in which the Kohan were almost wiped
out. Now many of the Kohan are reawakening and preparing for a final conflict with a being of evil known as the Shadow. Taking
a close look at the leaders of various factions reveals names such as Darius, Xerxes and Cyrus. In Kohan II called "Ahriman's gift" instead of going with a Tolkienian style world or the classic Greco-Roman,
Celtic or Norse mythologies, a blend of Persian mythology and Zoroastrianism was used for the base. A race of immortals, touched by the divine, the Kohan were first
given life by Ormazd. The Kohan, though immortal in spirit, can be killed by violence, their spirits retreating into
the Great Dream, their only connection with Khaldun being a indestructible golden amulet. During the First Age a number of
Kohan fell under the influence of Ahriman and the Shadow. These Kohan helped Ahriman bring about the first Cataclysm, ending
the First Age and shattering the Kohans idyllic world. These traitorous Kohan were called the Ceyah and exiled from what remained
of Kohan society. The surviving Kohan desperately tried to prepare for future Cataclysms, but it was in vain. Age after Age
passed, each punctuated by its own Cataclysm, and the number of Kohan dwindled. The remaining Kohan argued amongst themselves
and warred with the Ceyah. Now they are split into three separate political factions, the Council, Nationalist, and Royalists.
Though they are only a shell of a society, their kingdoms populated mostly by mortals.
Spirits that have slept for many Ages are now awakening and preparing to battle the Ceyah and the Shadow once more.
